Question family... I have two 7 year old girls and they are learning about Martin Luther King at their school. Of course they don't even penetrate the surface... so at what age would you speak to them about our history (that particular part) and how deep would you go with them?! We've instilled in them how strong we are and self love etc but haven't really spoken about racism as of yet #ChimeIn

They are old enough to understand at 6 maybe 5 depending on how comfortable you feel. Kids are a lot smarter than we give them credit for, the earlier you teach them the better. Dont wait until they have been in the school system for years and been indoctrinated with the warped version of history. Just my opinion tho

I agree with start young. How deep you want to go is up to you, but you can explain what racism is and what people like MLK were fighting for.

You don't have to get too deep cause it will go over their heads, but 7 is old enough to start on a surface level. Just start with the basics and get a little more in depth every year so by the time they hit high school the history teacher can't lie to them.
